A numbing solution is applied at the beginning of, and during the procedure to keep it as painless as possible. I find that most of my clients are so comfortable that they actually nap through the process. Rarely, someone will be harder to numb, so we may take longer to allow the numbing agent to work. I've even had some clients who actually preferred not to use a numbing agent. Whatever
your pain tolerance level, your comfort is of the utmost importance.
In most cases there little to no bleeding. Some clients will experience about as much bleeding as can be expected from a deep scratch and nothing more. It should be noted, however, some factors that cause there to be more than expected bleeding include those taking blood thinners or those who have an increase in hormones.
Many clients will experience some redness at the procedure site, but most will show no redness whatsoever once pigment is implanted. The level of swelling varies by procedure. After countless clients over 4+ years, I've yet to have anyone leave with visible swelling after a brow procedure. On the other hand, most, if not all clients should expect some swelling after lip blushing.
Natural brows are never shaved off. In fact, every effort is made to keep as much of your brow hairs as possible. As a standard procedure, brows are groomed, and hairs outside of the procedure area are tidied up, but if you prefer a completely maintenance free finish, we can forgo that step.
First, black is not used as a brow color. However, we will custom mix a color that suites you perfectly with consideration given to your hair color, skin color and tone, as well as your own preferences.
There are many factors that play a role in the longevity of your healed results. Those are including, but not limited to, your skin type and condition, lifestyle, aftercare practices, and health. Generally, however, you can expect 1-3 years on average for brows, 1-5 years for eyeliner, 2-5 years for lips, 2-5 years for areolas.
Most people don't experience any limiting discomfort after their PMU procedure and can go right back to normal activities not restricted by your aftercare instructions. So you can go right to work or any obligations that don't allow your procedure site to come into contact with moisture or contaminants. You will be given detailed aftercare instructions to follow to aid in the quickest healing with the most beautiful results possible.
When done correctly, and when aftercare is carefully followed, there should be no scarring. However, as with anything that opens the skin, there is a small risk. If you are prone to scarring, you should opt for a procedure such as Nano or Powder Brows over Microblading
since that technique offers a lower probability of scars.
There is no way to predict exactly how any one client will heal due to the many factors involved. While your healed results may look amazing, they may continue to fade quicker and more uneven over a shorter time than they would have with the follow-up. The follow-up helps to reinforce the work and give you a longer last with a more even fadeout.
YES! Depending on what pigments were used, oiliness of the skin, what minerals your body pulls over time, some people may find the color of their previous work changes. This is perfectly normal with some pigment lines. To limit this occurring, not only do I use pigments that, more often than not fade while maintaining the original color, but I also modify the colors for added security. But wherever you had your work done previously, we can always correct your existing color with or without an additional brow service.
PLEASE wash every day! You will be given instructions on how to wash, but any open wound bears a risk of infection if not properly cleansed. The only exception to this is for areola procedures. For 3D areola tattoos and areola repigmentation, the site will be fully cleansed before and after the procedure, and you will be sent home with an antiseptic dressing that is to be kept on for a set duration, after which daily cleansing is required.
First, don't panic. A lot of clients go through a sort of "brow shock". This is normal as it may be a dramatic change from what you're used to. I advise giving your artist a call with your concerns. If they can't help you and/or there is a problem with the quality of work, emergency removal is an option. For best results, emergency removal/lightening should be performed within 48 hours of the unwanted procedure. Otherwise you'll have to wait until fully healed to obtain this service. Waiting increases the number of sessions needed for removal or lightening. However, we still want to use this procedure as a last result whenever possible. If you like the shape but not the color, you may be a better candidate for color correction instead.
